Joe Slovo was the head of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the guerilla arm of the ANC, not of the ANC.

The ANC was a coalition of communist and non-communist elements. Nelson Mandela represented a non-communist element within ANC. The ANC also represented the only game in town for black aspirations under apartheid-- as the free elections, when they were permitted to occur, demonstrated.

Buthelezi was and always has been a thug and killer in bed with the intelligence agencies of various countries. He would have been our thug, though, I suppose, which would have made you happier, I guess.

Under the ANC, the South African government has adopted an orthodox capitalist economic policy which has earned it the hatred of the South African Communist party.

I used to live in Southern Africa, so pay attention to what's going on in the area.
