A nonexistent presidential rally combined with weakness in financial stocks to hammer the Nasdaq and small-cap sectors on Thursday. Larger-cap names suffered the biggest hit, although all Nasdaq industry indices finished lower. The Nasdaq Composite has now dropped 10 percent in the last three sessions, while the Russell 2000 has lost 5.2 percent. It was a mixed bag on the sentiment front. The CBOE equity put/call ratio reached a robust 0.86, which should put upward pressure on its 21-day moving average.
