Agilent Technologies' New Advisor is the First Integrated Test Product Available for 3G Wireless Networks PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2000--
Test System for Deploying, Troubleshooting and Optimizing 3G Radio Access Networks Adds to the Advisor Family's Extensive Capabilities
Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A), a leading provider of innovative technologies for communications and life sciences, today introduced new Agilent Advisor test software that provides network managers, engineers and technicians with the first comprehensive tool for installing, maintaining and troubleshooting advanced third-generation (3G) radio access networks. 3G represents the next generation of wireless networks, promising high-speed wireless voice, data, Internet and gaming services that far exceed current 2G wireless speeds.
"Telecommunications companies worldwide are spending billions of dollars to secure licenses for the 3G spectrum, and billions more to create infrastructure and offer services using that spectrum," said Steve Witt, general manager of Agilent's Network Systems Test Division. "Advisor's 3G test capabilities will help these firms speed design, creation and deployment of these systems and realize a quicker return on these massive investments."
Agilent 3G UMTS W-CDMA test software is the most powerful system available in its price range to help accelerate test and deployment of UMTS W-CDMA radio access networks. New monitoring capabilities help customers analyze equipment response during simulation test and system integration. Monitored Iu and Iub interfaces can be viewed in real time and data can be captured and viewed via the Playback Capture Viewer.
The 3G UMTS W-CDMA supports high-speed ATM interfaces from 1.5 to 155 Mb/s, ensuring a sound ATM transport network foundation upon which higher protocol layers can be developed. It incorporates powerful capabilities for ATM, AAL-2 and AAL-5 layer testing, allowing ATM cell reception up to full line rates, assorted traffic generation profiles and statistics and counterviews.
The system adds wireless test to the extensive capabilities available with the Advisor family to meet the test needs of enterprise users, service providers and network equipment manufacturers. In addition to the new 3G test tools, the Advisor family offers solutions for:
-- LAN/WAN/ATM testing;
-- next-generation network testing;
-- frame relay testing; and
-- voice quality analysis for a range of voice applications.
