...I find it inconceivable that he actually beat John McCain in the primaries. I guess that's what John gets for talking campaign reform. Nobody in the industrial-political complex wants that.

Nor should anyone else. 'Campaign reform' is a code phrase for 'incumbent protection act' at a time when about the only things that can defeat an incumbent are death or boredom. The problem is NOT the ability to BUY influence, but the existence of the power to DELIVER favors in return and to EXTORT protection money.
