hi all
good luck this morning! hope we dont need it.......
from briefing (fwiw). interestig that they omitted dell here.......
Bad earnings news is now out in tech sector from virtually every major player, with the notable exceptions of IBM (IBM), Sun Microsystems (SUNW), Yahoo! (YHOO) and America Online (AOL)... Considering how far these stocks have fallen in recent weeks, it's safe to say that any bad news they might offer up at this stage is also built in... Consequently, the earnings threat (for the current quarter) is greatly diminished. Lingering earnings anxiety may well cap near-term upside potential, but Briefing.com maintains that the additional downside risk (at this point) is minimal.
also of note. sunw problems creating op for cpq wildfire sales?
Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 31 11/16 -1/16: Bernstein said that while quarter appears to be on track, its checks with resellers reveal that no one had access to any UltraSparc-3 based products, and the company's website store states that US-3 products are "delayed"; while not likely to have a material impact on Q2, the news is disturbing in that it suggests there are execution problems with initial US-3 rollout; and that the rollout plan for midrange and high-end US-3 servers scheduled for the first half of 2001 may be further delayed.
hanging in.
