Richard Juarez, eCommerce Infrastructure Services
"We believe that iBasis continues to build its market position in the rapidly growing market for international Voice over IP (VoIP)," said Juarez. "We believe that the announcement on Friday by iBasis's customer China Unicom that it intends to build the world's largest Cisco-powered VoIP network will contribute to further growth in iBasis's minutes carried to and from the Chinese market, given iBasis's similar status as a Cisco-powered network. iBasis has agreed to double its current capacity connecting its network to China Unicom. We estimate that the additional capacity added could support up to $4 million per month in incremental revenue and 40 million minutes per month in additional traffic. We believe that international VoIP traffic continues to grow strongly. In addition, we believe that international VoIP traffic will continue to provide higher revenue per minute and higher margins than domestic long distance VoIP, which in PC-to-PC and PC-to-phone calling seems to be moving rapidly toward the free, advertising-supported model. In order to garner investor interest and enthusiasm, we continue to believe that the company needs to demonstrate the ability to generate revenue from its value-added services offerings. We are maintaining our estimates and Buy rating."
