Do you really believe in PURE merit?

Accomplishment, business and public... intelligence... credentials.... civic purpose....

Merit does not always equate to mere academic scores....

And Condi Rice IS no doubt quite worthy of having a crack at public office, but she is still an unknown face to the majority of people in this nation.

Discrimination is inherent in every society... Before the blacks ever left the plantations for the cities, the Irish, Italians, Poles, and many others inhabited the ghettos... Before the enslavement of blacks became prevalent in this society, there were indentured servants, usually convicts of debtor prison, who waived their individual rights and entered a contractual slavery and traveled to the US. Nice PC name, but slavery nonetheless.

Every culture identity eventually struggles to make themselves recognized by the system. But the system doesn't just give you entre. You have to struggle to gain it.

And I say that based upon my own family experience, whose father grew up in poverty on a strawberry farm with 14 brothers and sisters. No one gave him or my relatives any "affirmative action".

Regards,

Ron
