These New Baseball contracts are insane. AROD getting 252 million..... The writing is on the wall for a coming salary cap, along the lines of the NBA and NFL. The owner of the Reds was saying he was shocked by the contract given by Texas to Alex R. But it was only a year ago that the REDS created the biggest contract when they signed Ken Griffy Jr. So there is much disingenuousness at work. The owners are already planning a lock out when the current agreement runs out in a year or so, and the owners will be united enough to get some concessions from the players. There are probably a few to many teams and having a couple go under would be healthy for the game.
