You know the Yankees had most of the money in
the 20's 30's, 40's and 50's and they could go and
get all of the best talent from the Minor league teams
of every club, as well as having a very big farm system.

They paid up for Ruth, so that the Boston owner could
finance the broadway production of "No No Nanette"

so things today are not as different from 50 or 70
years ago as people would have you believe.

Connie Mack built fantastic teams in Philadelphia in the
first third of the 20th century.

And since he was the owner he dismantled World series
calibur teams at two different times by selling off his
high valued players to other teams.

So there is some inherent cyclicality to the Money
Machinations in Baseball and yet the writers and pundits
don't want to tell that truth.
