Making Monetary policy is like driving a car that has both bad brakes and a faulty accelorator. Some monetarists have said that the car should not be driven at all.
Greenspan is old and blind but he has driven that car like a pro. Its bumpy alright but i still maintain that a recession is not automatic and that the psychological impact of a rate reduction will do much to prevent it.
