That's an excellent article, thanks. I had not been aware of the so-called Inkhatagate story. I'm not too troubled by the "shadowy, federalist, right-wing Italian-American lawyer" he worked with. I love that description! It does betray a lefty predisposition in the author. The libertarian economist Walter Williams was a big booster of Buthelezi in the late 80s. He had his readers convinced that Buthelezi would create a free market system if he got in power. I like the fact he is descended from Shakha and took his duties as Chief of the Zulus seriously. He has a genuine respect for his people's traditions. But then, I'm a romantic. It's good to hear his relations with Mandela and the ANC have mellowed.
