Yes, he was justified in spending his own fortune. By the way, spending money does not guarantee a win, by any means. It can become a campaign issue, even, for the opposition. The way to ensure that everyone can compete is to get rid of finance limits. Then everyone can look for backers. I know a very wealthy woman of socialist inclination who has kept the Nation and the Institute for Policy Studies afloat........
