Mike Douglas--Yeah, we at least agree that neither guy "won" this election. I imagine that a reasonable person could probably count the ballots one way and Bush wins, another way and Gore wins. Which, in my view, is why Bush should tread VERY carefully to avoid caving to the wing-nuts on the right--he certainly has no mandate to do that. Whether he has the inclination to do it, we'll soon learn.
I don't follow your objection to quoting Falwell. He's one of your guy's best friends, isn't he? Did you forget Bob Jones Academy? Bush's Christian Coalition video?
I do agree that Bush, so far, hasn't shown any proclivity to fight, but we're just 3 days beyond his being named the winner, so the juries still (WAY) out.
The Citizens for Tax Justice assumes that our tax system should stay progressive (as do I), and opposes efforts to make it less so (as do I). It strongly opposes Bush's insane tax cut, which would give 70% of the benefit to the richest 10% of the people. The good news is that there is no chance he will get it through Congress.... |
