Huh? Is this guy what they call clueless? I believe that the USR x2 modems have some sort of software "governor" on them to limit the speed to 53K, to comply with the FCC regs, correct? Dwight, That is correct. The entire ariticle was annoying. Glenn PS I repeat myself on the cable modem connection. Going to cable modem was the best thing that could ever of happened to me. The cable company, Armstrong Cable, has announced plans to open this service in more of their market area. They found it works great and is profitable. They used this area as a test sight to see how implimentation would go. I can't imagine going back to 33.3 kbps. My typical throughput is 3 to 4 mbps unless the sight I am hitting is slow or their connection to the backbone is only a T1.
