Then again we have a population of 90,000 and have two universities, one state, and two colleges, both of which are publicly funded and almost free for those living in the county. <<What is the dropout rate? >> Higher than it used to be. Drugs and gangs play a role in that. <<What is the tax rate for schools (if property taxes are used)? >> My house is worth 170k and the amount that goes to the schools is $2120, the other $1,400 goes for roads, police, fire.... Roads are #2, we have a lot of freeze thaw cycles and the heavy trucks and equipment used in farming tear them up.
