I think your argument is incomplete. There is more to government than standing around expressing yourself and your opinions.

If a storm blew a tree down in your neighborhood, and it was blocking the road so no one could go to work, would you and your neighbors debate about it or would you get the chainsaws and cut it up and pull it out of the road? I doubt you'd sit around and complain because the government wasn't doing it, if it was something you could do yourself.

I can just see it - would the liberals claim it was a failure of the market? And then would the conservatives talk about self reliance? LOL!
