A note about @Home:

The user's home page of @Home is configurable, as long as you use the affiliates listed on the configuration palette. You can't even put a link on the home page to other sites. So @Home's home page is just some superfluous appurtenance I must keep resident so Eudora Pro's icons aren't corrupted.

It's counter productive to restrict the interface to affiliates who are getting some benefit from the free ride, but are delivering no benefit back to @Home. I doubt management has the slightest clue that this is going on. The proof is seen in the fact that Excite hasn't provided any material improvement in the interface for a year. The company continues to pay all these great people with the result that they don't deliver anything.

Not that the company isn't aware that they must get tough, so they are getting tough by gutting the nominal customer support they were providing. In spite of all those MBAs they still don't get it. The MBA is in the way. They have to learn how to do business. You don't learn that in Silicon Quiche.

The only question now is how long they can continue with the charade they call Excite. It really is amazing that Att is letting them flounder without any sense that @Home is at the absolute bottom when it comes to facility. ATHM gets tough with their customers and Att chooses to let the failures persist. Great combo.
