Had a long response written then I wanted to paste in a link to the Nikkei. While looking for a link Netscape crashed. So I lost the response.

The general idea was that markets can turn like the Nik did, hit a high then never come back. Even though people at the time were concerned about Japanese buying of American properties it was to come that such investment was poorly made, such as Rockefeller Center and Pebble Beach. The Japanese were relying on their bubble stock market to bail them out. I wanted to get a chart to see how many years it's been, I would guess around 10.
