Done, but I just gotta say....

Many years ago my first wife worked for one of the bigger, well known, charitable organizations in N. America....it's still around, and I see them on TV, and in the papers now and then, and no knocks against them, they do good work.

She was paid very well, which got me to thinking...always a dangerous thing.

I tagged along to a party they had, pinned down the local "director" or whatever he was, a very nice fellow, nice house, nice family, nice car, he'd been with this organization for over 20 years.... and I started asking questions.....

Big eye opener.... something like 80%+ of donations go/went to administration, the rest, I assume, to where the doners had intended...

Ever since then, while we do give little bits to many outfits, at least until the mega phone solicitations each day start to piss me off..we've tried, to target one family, each year, and do something direct...100% goes to where we intend, maybe no tax receipts, but I don't give a shit about that....

And not just this time of year, people in need, need just as much, in June, as they do at Christmas.

This post was longer, examples of families we've found, and helped, but I scrapped that....do what you can, when you can....
