Good morning CF,

Yes. I understand this......you have a fun mind. Nice that you can share this.

So, quanta coalesce into particles only when observed. Wouldn't it be fun to be able to travel as fast as Johnathan Livingston Seagull did after his mentor taught him how to travel at the speed of being there? We could perhaps catch glimpses of each others bodies just before complete coalescence, or just as coalescence is partially broken up. This could be a fun way of playing with Schrodinger's cat.......:-)

However, I had a spiritual reality in mind, not just a physical one. Perhaps this properly belongs exclusively to the study of consciousness? Or does it?

We could start this off by mentioning S-matrix theory, which has as its philosophical foundation the "bootstrap" approach which was proposed by Geoffrey Chew.

In this bootstrap context, nature cannot be reduced to fundamental entities, like fundamental building blocks of matter. It has to be understood entirely through self-consistency. The universe is seen as a dynamic web of interrelated events. Order in this context means order in the interconnectedness of subatomic processes

The vision that emerges is that every particle consists of all other particles. Not in the classical static sense, not as separate entities, rather as interrelated energy patterns in an ongoing dynamic process. The patterns of particle interaction do not contain one another as much as involve one another- in a way that can be given a precise mathematical meaning, but, alas, as with so much in life, cannot be easily expressed in words.

The ability to recognize order seems to be an essential part of the rational mind; every perception of a pattern is, in a sense, a perception of order. The clarification of the concept of order in a field of research where patterns of matter and patterns of mind are increasingly being recognized as reflections of one another leads to fascinating frontiers of knowledge(it would appear that nothing is yet settled...keeping us on our toes and moving life along like the good story that it is)

Much has been done to achieve a more general framework, in which some of the concepts that have been accepted without explanation have been "bootstrapped," derived from overall self-consistency. This even includes our conception of macroscopic space-time, and even our conception of human consciousness. Increased use of the bootstrap approach has opened up the unprecedented possibility of being forced to include the study of human consciousness explicitly in future theories of matter.

I would think the really interesting developments will be as science confirms the experiences of the mystics who have been able to "see" more directly because of their lack of belief systems-as-barriers. What do you think?

Best,

:-)C

PS....This from The New York Times this morning....fun!

***This seemed to be giving an awful lot of power to the "observer." It was definitely no way to run a universe.***
