From Kauai TSG-C meeting -
----------

From - "For meeting the ITU-R dates for 1XevDV"
ftp://ftp.3gpp2.org/TSGC/Working/TSG-C_0012/TSG-C/Plenary/C00-20001204-027A_Mot_ITU-approval-1xEVDV.doc

"..As the membership is aware, 3GPP2 has sought and obtained, for its specifications, the ITU's endorsement and official promulgation as IMT-2000 international standards. To date, cdma2000 has been given this status, 1XevDO has applied for this status, and ITU-R has been told that the same recognition will be sought for 1XevDV. Similarly, 3GPP has obtained endorsement for its UMTS system and it is likely that will seek and obtain approval of its HSDPA technology (3GPP's equivalent of 1XevDV) in 2001.."

((( I infer that "3GPP's equivalent of 1XevDV" relies on QCOM's HDR IP? Can anyone comment? )))

The submittal goes on to discuss coordination with ITU meeting schedules. MOT suggests that if 1xevdv schedule slips, it's likely that ITU IMT2000 approval would slip from Nov 2001 annual meeting to Nov 2002. Also, I did not know 1xevdo had applied for status.

Here is letter from CDG regarding importance of ITU compliance -

Interesting discussion (page 3) regarding "Mobile Station ID Expansion and Harmonization" - with 3GPP2 harmonized with 3GPP.

"During the week, proposals were received from LGE, Nortel, Qualcomm, and Tantivity. This makes a total of eight proposals:
- LGE
- LinkAir
- Lucent
- Motorola, Nokia, LSI, TI
- Nortel
- QUALCOMM Incorporated
- Samsung
- Tantivity
The proposal from Tantivity is a component proposal. There was some discussion on whether the proposal from LGE constituted a framework proposal or three component proposals. It was decided to not address the issue further at this time."

((( I've read in recent email correspondence that deadline for new submissions is Dec 22. But with QCOM's stated displeasure with current proposals - ?? )))

"..The Decision Criteria group is nearing completion of its work.... The performance evaluation ad hoc group still has a way to go.... Assuming that the ad hoc work is completed, it is expected that the working group will approve the decision criteria and the performance evaluation work at the San Diego meeting in January. Note that this will be about one month after the date indicated to the plenary at the Kyoto meeting..."
