Thanks for the compliment. Your post was an excellent addition to the thread.

My friend and I were talking about this very thing on our walk yesterday. I posited that really there is a duality of another kind beyond that of the physical realm. I believe that there is an informational context that exists beyond the sensate physical reality. Information requires bandwidth so a limited amount of bandwidth means limited information.

If you consider an idea as needing some lattice to cling to you quickly realize that there can be ideas that could move from lattice to another. The lattice in this case is what we deem to be concrete reality, however, I believe it is not limited to concrete reality. This information is consciousness.

I resolved my understanding to some first principles:

1. There is me
2. There is outside of me
3. What is outside affects me (consequences)
4. What is outside of me behaves by rules
5. Application of these rules allows control (logic)
6. No model is without error (incompleteness)
7. The rules exist only as probabilities (imprecision)

These seven principles allow the creation of my cosmology including a view of moral and scientific truth. Nothing more is needed. No scary stories of hell or damnation. No Buddhas (though that appeals to me and is not inconsistent with my philosophy). All that you need is the application of these simple principles.

Out of these simple principles, one can derive an understanding of everything. Any thing more is just details and subject to the problems of diminishing return and the truth-limiting problems of principle numbers 6 & 7.
