Bias is best discerned by the stories they ignore, not by the attitudes of the talking heads they hire to read the "official version" of what's happening. I think both sides might see the media as biased aginst them because they ignore some stories that either the liberals or conservatives think are as important but the media do not. Overall I think the media are liberally biased but perhaps not as much as some conservatives think. Both sides have stories they think should be covered but are not, however when they do cover a controverisal issue and do project an opinion in to the story (either by stateing some sort of opinion, or more subtly slanting the story), the slant tends to be liberal. The heads of GE are not going to let NBC rock the boat. Same with Capital Cities ABC, Time-Warner-CNN-AOL, Murdoch, Gannett. These are not liberal organizations, and they certainly won't allow their media outlets to bite the hand that feeds them. The reporters, news ancors, and editors tend to be liberal. The heads of big companies tend not to be liberal but they aren't on the average an extremely conservative group. Maybe moderately to the right but not real conservatives. Tim
