Drugs have failed to control restenosis and paclitaxel coated stents will quite likely not work, or if they do will be much less effective than radiation. (lots of tumor and animal data on anti-angiogensis to bear on this issue). So sell short on ANPI. There is a company called Gidant (?sp) that is about to develop a gamma source that is remotely afterloaded. Treatment will take about 20-40 min, and the docs will have to leave the room so they aren't irradiated. This is not going to beat Novoste. What if the patient gets an MI during the treatment. You can't even give him/her nitro.
