fyodor: Well the following is known.. the demo xBox MS showed off first was GP hardware with an athlon on board. I'm not sure exactly what parts of the specs nVidia couldn't pull off, but my guess is that without the GP approach to the graphics pipeline, nVidia likely couldn't get enough bandwidth into the GPU.
