Touche - the Romans adopted and took over Christianity for political expediency, nothing much changed until the protestant reformation. What really were they protesting? Nothing much happened to the Holy Roman Church until Vatican II where they sought to bring things back to a pre-Roman Catholicism and they failed. Maybe the old Grand Prostate Salon is right. The McCabe "Feck the Pope" football chants make the most sense.
