so which came first , "the you" or the "not you "?

Wow. Tough questions - I love it.

My personal knowledge is that "I" came first, but there is also the "not me". It seems to be older and larger than me. It has the knowledge stored in a space called time. We both exist in time, however. My duration in time seems to be finite, while the "not me" doesn't seem to have this temporal limit. It doesn't seem to need me nor I it to exist, but yet we both do and reference and interact with each other. I believe it is through this resonance that we reinforce each other.

I imagine the "not me" to be the trampoline I push against. But unlike a trampoline, it is not flat and has various spring constants and temperatures (to name just two properties) all over its surface. Some places are soft, some are stiff, some are hot, some are cool. This is the tapestry we call reality. But it's extent is defined by the perceptions and my temporal memory. It is most definitely NOT rigid.

So Mars, if you close your eyes and imagine the volume enclosed by your mind, how big is it?

a) finite and bounded
b) infinite in extent
