As long ago as March, I think, when Greenspan did his Humphrey-Hawkins thing, already there were Senators, esp from the Mid-West challenging him on rates rising, saying there wasn't any froth where they lived. Also, as recently as the last FMOC, we've heard about 'inflation hawks' being a main source of the bias towards raising rates.

Now, with numerous major industries, esp, non-tech ones feeling tremendous pain, the pressure to lower rates is going to be immense. If the FED doesn't do it, I think Congress will through an enormous tax cut.
