This message is actually in response to Faultline's message number 481. Faultline: Thanks for ref. on Gore and internet. I am familiar with ARPANET and NSF. What I did not know was Gores role in funding which apparently is what he was successful in accomplishing via legislation. It is obvious that Gore did not "invent" the internet---he was certainly a good politician in helping the funding and political machinations get resolved. It took many people, actually some of the people I knew in 60's and 70's, many years to invent the internet----government and private combined. Gore was there at the appropriate time to move the question along. mj
