Traffic light LED update:

I wrote an e-mail to the Roxboro group, which is the parent of Dialight (the firm that was mentioned as replacing san Diego area traffic signals with LED's) to determine the source of dialight's LEDs.

Here is the reply:

"Mr. [nbfm],

Dialight supplies complete Traffic light lamps as well as other transportation products which incorporate LED's. We purchase the LED's from a variety of manufacturers depending on the color. Primary suppliers are
Nichia in Japan, and LumiLeds and Agilent, both American Companies.

Mike Kirchoff"

Any of these companies purchase anything from CREE?
