gott "did look under system info>tools?" yep. here's what's listed.... disk cleanup dr. watson directx diagnostic tool hardware wizard network connections backup file signature verification utility update wizard uninstall windows report tool is this where you find repair tool on your system? however! if i go to add/remove programs and click on internet explorer 5.5sp1 change/remove, i get a dialog that presents three options.... the 1st (add a component) is grayed out, the 2nd is 'repair internet explorer' and the 3rd is 'restore the previous windows configuration'. methinks the 2nd choice be the one we're discussing. don't you agree? :) mark
