>>What the liberals won't admit is that they really aren't for minorities. They are for a specific agenda. That agenda just happens to coincide with the "supposed" interests of many minorities. However, if you happen to appoint a "conservative" minority, they have a hissy fit because it exposes them. They only want liberal minorities. :-)<<

Do you think liberals should applaud when conservatives are appointed to high posts?
Well, I personally would describe myself as a liberal. I applaud the appointment of Condoleeza Rice as National Security Advisor not because she is black, and certainly not because she is undeniably conservative. I applaud the appointment because the woman has excellent credentials, and so I consider this to be a good appointment.
I do believe that the fact that she is black had a lot to do with Bush's decision. I believe that Bush and his advisors want to show the liberals that they won't appoint only white men, so to some extent I'm sure that politics was a factor. On the other hand, I believe politics is a factor when liberals appoint minorities, too. This goes both ways.
As long as the people being appointed to important posts are qualified, I don't care about their race. That having been said, I'd rather see people in the government who share my views, so I didn't applaud, for example, the appointment of Clarence Thomas. Why should I? I don't care for his views.
