The prestige of the FED is on the line. If we go into recession here, it'll be 'So, what have you done for me lately?'. Congress will be under great pressure from constituents to take matters into their own hand and do the big tax cut that AG doesn't want. We've seen massive number of earnings warnings, and now layoffs are beginning. The dot coms are decimated. Naz is down 50% from its highs. Unemployment is starting to rise. Since Humphrey-Hawkins in March, there have been many voices saying that the Naz and unemployment are the wrong targets. This recession will have been totally unnecessary and the FED will tarred and feathered if it happens.

I am bullish in the sense that I remain more or less fully invested (I lowered margin weeks ago to survive whatever nonsense might happen), and expect that this economy should be soaring.
