Mike - the sad part is that Dubya succeeded in making Gore appear to be the politician who lacked character because of a few peripheral anecdotes (which had more than a grain of truth to them). Whereas Bush's entire pitch to the American public was a lie. His record of being a drunk well into his late thirties, his coverups of illegal activities in his twenties and thirties, his gross distortions of his record in Texas, his claim to the high ground on character when the main focus of his campaign was to attack Gore personally, and then his post-election behavior -- all of these things speak to man of limited abilities with some serious character flaws.

You guys may love him -- I don't doubt your sincerity -- but don't insult the majority of Americans who voted against him by suggesting that he or his ideas (such as they are) enjoy popular support or are more honest than Gore's. And do yourself a favor -- the word "Clintonian" is a form of right wing short hand that reveals more about you than it does the person you are attacking (be itGore or me). Had Clinton run against Dubya, he would have gotten 60%+ of the vote. This nation will be pretty nostalgic for Clinton any second now -- heck, they already are.
