Standard & Poor's Announces Changes in S&P Indices

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 2000--Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 Indices:
-- S&P SmallCap 600 components Jack Henry & Associates (NASD:JKHY), ChoicePoint Inc. (NYSE:CPS), and Investors Financial Services (NASD:IFIN), will replace OfficeMax Inc. (NYSE:OMX), Warnaco Group (NYSE:WAC) and PSS World Medical (NASD:PSSI) in the S&P MidCap 400 Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, December 12, 2000. All of the companies are being removed for lack of representation. Advanced Energy Industries (NASD:AEIS), Varian Semiconductor Equipment (NASD:VSEA) and Genesco Inc. (NYSE:GCO) will replace Jack Henry & Associates, ChoicePoint Inc. and Investors Financial Services in the S&P SmallCap 600 Index.
-- Also, after the close of trading Tuesday, December 12, 2000, S&P SmallCap 600 components BISYS Group (NASD:BSYS), Arthur J. Gallagher (NYSE:AJG) and Expeditors International (NASD:EXPD) will change places with S&P MidCap 400 components MagneTek, Inc. (NYSE:MAG), Wellman, Inc. (NYSE:WLM) and Arnold Industries (NASD:AIND).
Jack Henry & Associates, Inc. provides integrated computer systems and ATM networking products for banks and credit unions. The company, headquartered in Monett, Missouri, will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Computers (Software & Services) industry group.
ChoicePoint Inc. is a provider of decision-making intelligence to businesses, individuals, and government agencies. The company, headquartered in Alpharetta, Georgia, will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Services (Commercial & Consumer) industry group.
Investors Financial Services provides asset administration services for the financial services industry through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Investors Bank & Trust. The company, headquartered in Boston, will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Investment Management industry group.
BISYS Group provides technology outsourcing, check imaging applications and brokerage services to financial institutions nationwide. The company, headquartered in Little Falls, New Jersey will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Services (Data Processing) industry group.
Arthur J. Gallagher is an international insurance brokerage and risk management services firm. The company, headquartered in Itasca, Illinois, will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Insurance Brokers industry group.
Expeditors International is engaged in the business of providing global logistics management. The company, headquartered in Seattle, will be added to the S&P MidCap 400 Air Freight industry group.
Advanced Energy Industries is involved in the development, marketing, and support of technology solutions that are critical in the manufacture of semiconductors, data storage products, and flat panel displays. The company, headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Equipment (Semiconductor) industry group.
Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc. is a producer of ion implantation equipment used in the manufacture of semiconductors. The company, headquartered in Gloucester, Massachusetts, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Equipment (Semiconductor) industry group.
Genesco Inc. is a retailer and wholesaler of branded footwear. The company, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Retail (Specialty) industry group.
MagneTek, manufactures digital power products for communications, industrial and building systems, data processing, imaging and other applications requiring precision power. The company, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Electrical Equipment industry group.
Wellman Inc. manufactures and markets high-quality polyester products, including Fortrel(R) brand polyester textile fibers, polyester fibers made from recycled raw materials, and PermaClear(R) brand PET (polyethylene terephthalate) packaging resin. The company, headquartered in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Textiles (Specialty) industry group.
Arnold Industries is a holding company of transportation and logistics companies. The company, headquartered in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, will be added to the S&P SmallCap 600 Truckers industry group.
