Rates cuts are inevitable now. Greenspan will either forecast it or do it. I believe he's torn between the two. The country and markets badly need him to cut. He would be very arrogant not to. There is no risk in a 1/4 cut now but the symbolism would be huge. There is so much negativity (most of it irrational) around that it's ebcoming a self-fulfilling prophesy. Because people fear there is a recession there suddenly is one. Sure there are real factors at play too and real earnigns disappointments but nothing to justify 60-90% drops in perfectly good stocks (except in a few special cases of course).
