mortgages almost entirely linked to 10yr TNote yield
called mortgage-backed securities
they are funded on large scale by the Tens
bankers erroneously believe they are funded by the Thirtys

even as shorterm rates rose all spring and summer
mortgage rates have dropped 60 bpts since springtime
this happened as the yield curve inverted
refunding TBonds with federal surplus brought 30yr yields down further

housing as a result has remained robust, very important
since housing, autos, computers dictate the economy

however, automobiles are financed by shorterm notes
they are linked to Prime Rate, which is close to FedFunds
so auto sales are going into the shitter

the third pillar is computers and PC's, which is slowing steadily
Y2K was a big pill to swallow, now digestion time
