CSCO released their 8-K this morning.

The $275 reserve break down is as follows:

$14mm A/R reserve increase
$143mm inventory reserve
$118mm minority investment reserve

The inventory reserve increase is about in line with the sharp increase in inventory that had already been examined/debated here after the earnings report.

The question still remains for me, though--why did they not release this detail in the 10-Q? Why did it take a 10% decline in the stock price for CSCO to release information that they formerly had always provided shareholders?

That is why the stock declined so much yesterday. It was not the $275mm. It was a new doubt in many people's minds that the full and complete disclosure that had always been CSCO's practice would no longer be quite so full or complete.

And when your accounting is aggressive as CSCO's, that is a legitimate concern.
