i certainly agree. and true enough, there has been a mortgage refinancing boom , as well as a huge transfer of mortgage portfolios from the banks who are eager to get loans off their balance sheets in view of bad debts mounting, to FNM. one guess as to which loans get sold first...and FNM/FRE, backed by the magnanimous tax payer, are now more highly leveraged than LTCM was, about 1:154.

the GSE's are WS's big liquidity machines...
