Troy,

I'm confused by your paragraph. How can the actual number of shares traded be 1/2 of the total volume, if volume is by definition, the number of shares traded? I've never heard that NASDAQ volume is measured the way you describe. Does the NASDAQ report volume any differently than the other major exchnages?

I also don't understand how short sales can have a disproportionate impact on volume. Again because volume is simply the number of shares traded. So disproportionate with respect to what?

I'd appreciate any clarification you might be able to provide on theses points. Thanks.
