...it is less expensive and more efficient to continue using fossil fuels and to just make them cleaner.

In the short term, perhaps so. It's just too bad that our energy policy is so myopic. Witness the current oil price debacle. Solar, wind, tide, and geothermal power behave much more stably.

And don't forget that oil would be more expensive if it weren't subsidized by the government, which gladly wages undeclared war against oil-producing countries at the drop of a hat. The Bush/Cheney oil dynasty will not help this.

Good thing Microsoft doesn't run the presidency like Big Oil does, or they would have already bombed Silicon Valley.
