Your reference is but one more example of his predictions gone awry

I stopped following his postings a couple of weeks ago - that particular link was brought to my attention by a friend yesterday. This friend introduced me to the Gorilla thread that UF hosts and I was so impressed with the quality of the postings on that thread that I asked him if there was any particular individual who was worth following. He told me about Voltaire! So I began to follow his postings through most of the year. I allowed for some of his idiosyncrasies - but it became apparent to me that he is actually quite dangerous. Anyone who followed his recommendations would have ended up in the poor house.

I am convinced that a lot of the people on that thread don't take him seriously otherwise they would have left that thread ages ago after losing most of their money. Remember his recommendation to buy INTC January calls when the stock was in the high 40s? He said that he bought several hundred calls all the way down to the mid 30s. I think that I once saw a post that he sold a few when it recovered to the mid 40s. Well anyone who followed his advice would be sitting on a total loss at this point. Nothing more from V about what he did with his position - I assume that he sold it and took a loss.

Quite honestly, I don't fault him for being wrong; I do fault him for his professed knowledge about Houses and time capsules and other such garbage. I see that he has now started talking about the January time capsule - now that the election time capsule is done. At this point the Houses are probably drowning in inventory if V's theories are correct. What a load of tripe from this professed expert on the markets!

I will admit that I bought some RMBS 2003 LEAPS when the stock was about 42/43 - and it was his constant mention of the stock that caused me to look at it seriously.

I just hope that people realize that his various pronouncements on the market and individual stocks are worth no more than that of most people who post on SI. The difference is that most people offer an opinion and acknowledge that they might be wrong. V's statements on the other hand comes across as if it were the gospel and that is exactly as he views it with one big difference - it is subject to revision as and when he pleases!
