Most publicly-owned companies subscribe to public-relations services such as Business Wire or PR Newswire. It is to my understanding that these firms are used not only since they'll do most of the leg work in distributing news to the media, but also because it allows for the recorded transaction of when 'inside information' becomes 'public information'. These recorded transactions are, of course, important in legal disputes (which should explain the disclaimer). Both PR Newswire and Business Wire have websites. However, sites such as Yahoo! subscribes to both services and others, so they are a lot more convenient to use. If you have never tried getting a quote from Yahoo!, I urge you to do so:
quote.yahoo.com
When Yahoo! returns you your quote, the company's latest press releases are right on the bottom of the page (along with a lot of other goodies). Infoseek is also good, but kinda quirky to use. It still amazes me that all this info and services are FREE!!!
