I remember asking that exact same question about 2 years ago on this thread. I never got what I considered an acceptable answer.

In the end, if you're an individual or small business, I have always thought that you got secondary treatment from DELL; at least, I always did.

If you don't want the bundled software, DELL's price advantage basically goes away.
