Dan,
The markets are discounting the uncertainty of policy still being made during the Clinton administration. Clinton is still in office and will be until Jan 20. WHy is this concept so hard to grasp?
Let me try it again. Clinton is still President, he was President 9 months ago when the markets started down this slippery slope. He signed a huge tax cut...helping a bubble to occur, making it harder for AG to tune monetary policy.
Instead, AG has had to hike repeatedly. His biggest mistake was that he didn't hike quick enough. He's been slow on the trigger since he helped cause the '87 crash.
Bushs' turn to screw up will come next year.
