is the consequence of a chronic Arab tendency to violence is repugnant

No Gustave... what IS repugnant is that they are willing to SACRIFICE THEIR OWN YOUNG CHILDREN AS MATYRS to further their political aspirations.

They killed that one palestinian boy who was caught in a crossfire back in October. The palestinians SHOT HIM DELIBERATELY AT CLOSE RANGE and then tried to blame it on the Israelis.

They even filmed it, and you can literally hear the loud gunshot that killed the boy, DESPITE the fact that the Israeli position of some 300 feet away. That, and the angle of the bullet hole that was left in the wall behind the boy (after penetrating his body), indicates that it came from the boys right, which coincidentally is the same side which the cameraman was filming the event, and NOT from the Israeli side.

They SEND their kids with rocks and molotov cocktails in hand to friction points where they do "battle" with the Israelis. It's not like the Israelis are patrolling in their towns and these riots are spontaneous because the PA has responsibility for local security in their areas.

No, these palestinian kids have to travel to get to these "friction points".. And that requires intentional planning and a willingness to commit their own children to conflict.

No society that will condone such infanticide deserves to find its way to statehood.

And btw, I caught that discussion with Shlomo Avineri and what he stated had merit but not for the reasons stated below. What the IHT left out is the fact that 30% of Palestinians are employed by Israeli businessmen. Thus, the best thing Israel could do is close the borders between the west bank and Israel and let the Palestinians fend for themselves. Don't permit them to cross the borders to visit Gaza, but rather make them go through Jordan and Egypt as they once were forced to do... In essence, create another Cyprus.

Now that may be the ultimate answer. Arafat and the Palestinians would become even more dependent on welfare from the Arabs and it would remove the sources of friction and tension between Palestinians and Jews.
