May of the foreign folks have been hired in recent months, taking a substandard wage to get the job in the US. Sure some of them have expected options to be worth something.

Microsoft is getting a cheap labor pool with the excuse that there are so many positions open (that is what they told congress). I am told they hire about 1 percent of interviewees overall (99 not hired), but I also have some reason to believe it is much higher for foreign workers...

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you can get a foreigner to work for you cheap. Other industries have been doing it for years, such as agriculture. If you are hiring only 1 out of every 100 people that is hardly a shortage.
