Yes, the media doesn't want to upset the status quo either, they're part part of the problem. The "4th estate" has completely dropped its adversarial role and has become pretty much the propaganda arm of the power structure.

Can you imagine the war correspondents of WW2 accepting being denied access to the field, staying back at headquarters in "press pools" waiting for the "daily briefing," and reporting only the "official version" of events?

This is why the public knows so little of what really happened in Panama and Iraq. The US media spread lies and covered up the truth.
