Individual vs institutional selling. A basic premise we're operating on, that institutional tax-selling largely ended Oct 31, may not be completely true. Individuals own the assets of mutual funds. When they see a fund down substantially, they 'sell' thru redemptions. The fund, faced with these redemptions, must sell assets to cover the redemptions. This effect may be playable by looking at the top holdings of funds that are down the most.
