Wave Systems Corp.

Overview
While Internet usage continues to explode, its ultimate potential remains unfulfilled. To unleash the full power of the Internet revolution, users are demanding improved privacy, security and seamlessness in their Internet experience.

Wave Systems is focused on meeting these needs. Wave is a leading designer and developer of platforms, infrastructure and services that enable trusted, secure and reliable digital exchange and commerce over the Internet.

Trust In Every User Device

Wave Systems is building, through alliances and partnerships, a worldwide network of users based on trusted electronic relationships. These relationships are based on the revolutionary Trust@the Edge architectural model for the Internet, which embeds trust and security in every user device.

Wave is developing, deploying and licensing its EMBASSY™ Trusted Client technology for mass adoption of this revolutionary model, integrating industry standard functions from a wide range of partners that enable reliable, secure digital exchange and e-commerce. EMBASSY is an inexpensive, open co-processor system with its own nonvolatile memory, real-time clock, private keys and cryptographic hardware.

Today, all current solutions involving privacy, security and commerce over the Internet are based on the centralized network portal model. This model takes advantage of PCs for processing, the Internet for connectivity, and the World Wide Web for browser navigation, but lacks embedded trust and security in user devices - an essential ingredient that will enable the true explosion of digital exchange and commerce, as well as enhance privacy.

Trust@the Edge is revolutionary in that it turns the Internet inside out, moving core security and e-commerce functions out to the edge of the Internet and places them in the user's device.

Wave Systems has pioneered the fundamental building blocks that will enable this revolutionary model - the Trusted Client backed by a Trust Assurance Network. The Trust Assurance Network provides authentication and administration of the Trusted Clients through industry-standard infrastructure platforms. Using standard security hardware and software, Wave has created a Trusted Client system based on EMBASSY technology which can be embedded in a broad range of consumer or end-client devices such as PCs, digital set-top boxes, integrated gateway products such as cable and DSL modems, PDAs and cell phones.

This provides a distributed multiparty trust environment where value exchange, such as e-commerce transactions, can be done in the consumer's device rather than in centralized merchant servers. It also protects the merchant's digital goods and products, such as music, software and published documents, and at the same time assures the financial institution that the distributed transactions cannot be compromised. A multiparty trusted client is required to simultaneously protect the interests of all parties in an e-commerce transaction. Such a trusted client is required to enable Trust@the Edge.

Recent EMBASSY Highlights:

Advanced Micro Devices has announced the development of a PC Motherboard Reference Design integrating Wave's EMBASSY Trusted Client technology

Compaq Computer has announced with Wave the demonstration of TCPA Compliant PCs using an EMBASSY Trusted Client enabled keyboard
